Harbor Lands SEC Co-Freshman of the Week
COLUMBIA, S.C. (April 23, 2024) – South Carolina’s standout dual-sport athlete Nyck Harbor has been awarded SEC Track & Field Men’s Co-Freshman of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
Harbor earned a pair of top-3 finishes at Saturday’s USC Outdoor Open, doing so in the 100m and the 200m. He clocked a new personal best time of 10.12 (2.0) in the 100m finals to finish third overall with the third fastest time in program history. Additionally, his 100m time is seventh in the region and 13th in the NCAA. Harbor then finished runner-up in the 200m, trailing only World Champion Matthew Boling. The South Carolina freshman tied his personal best when he ran a wind-aided 20.38 (2.9), which is also 13th in the NCAA.
Harbor and the rest of the Gamecocks will close out the 2024 regular season this weekend when South Carolina heads to Charlotte for the Charlotte Invitational. The two-day meet will begin on Friday afternoon.
