Baseball Falls to NC State in Raleigh Regional
RALEIGH – The University of South Carolina baseball team fell to NC State, 6-4, in game four of the 2024 NCAA Raleigh Regional Saturday night (June 1) at Doak Field.
Dylan Brewer paced the Carolina offense with two home runs and three RBI. His two-run shot in the top of the seventh tied the game at four, but the Wolfpack scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh on a bases-loaded walk and added a run in the eighth on a throwing error.
NC State had three home runs in the game, two from Garrett Pennington, all in the first five innings. Will Tippett had a solo home run in the top of the third.
The loss went to Connor McCreery, who allowed a run in a third of an inning. Garrett Gainey went the first six frames, striking out four and allowing six hits and four runs with two walks.
POSTGAME NOTES
- Cole Messina extended his on-base streak to 20 games.
- Brewer made his first start since April 26.
- Carolina and NC State played the Saturday night game of a regional for the second straight year.
