Gamecock Men Secure Pair of All-American Honors on Friday

EUGENE, Ore. (June 7, 2024) – South Carolina Men’s Track & Field concluded their participation in the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championship on Friday night in Eugene, Ore.

Anass Essayi and Channing Ferguson were the last two competitors for the men on Friday’s finale, both securing All-American nods. Essayi came away with First Team All-American honors for the second consecutive season, finishing eighth in the 1500m after running 3:40.81. In addition to his First Team All-American honor, Essayi’s finish secured one more point for Carolina, adding to Dylan Targgart’s six points from Wednesday night in the men’s shot put. Ferguson landed on the Second Team All-American squad in the men’s high jump, adding to his Second Team All-American recognition from Wednesday’s long jump. Ferguson cleared 2.12m (6-11.5) in the high jump, finishing tied for 11th in the field.

In all, the Gamecock Men secured seven All-American honors under first year head coach Tim Hall.

The Gamecock Women will close out the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championship tomorrow in the 200m, 4x100m and the 4x400m relays.
