Ben Bamforth

Ben Bamforth

Ben Bamforth joins the Gamecock Track & Field coaching staff ahead of the 2024-25 season for his first year with South Carolina, serving as the Assistant Director of Operations. Bamforth will assist in coaching distance runners when needed, but will primarily focus on the day-to-day operational needs.

Prior to his time in Columbia, Bamforth most recently served as the Assistant Coach for Distance at Delaware for the 2023-24 season. While working with the Blue Hens distance squad, he coached the cross country team to a 19th-place finish at the 2023 NCAA DI Mid-Atlantic Region Cross Country Championship. During the outdoor season, he coached a pair of CAA conference bronze medalists in the 3K steeplechase and the 800m. In addition, he coached an East First Round qualifier in the steeplechase as well as a USATF U20 finalist in the 800m.

Bamforth has previous coaching experience prior to his time with the Blue Hens, having served as the track & field coach at Wilmington Friends School where he was the head coach of the middle school team and an assistant coach with the high school teams.

Bamforth worked as a student manager for Delaware Men’s Basketball (2019-20) and was also a manager for the football team in 2021. Bamforth ran cross country/track & field at Winthrop for one year before transferring to Delaware.

The Lewes, Del. Native graduated from Delaware in 2021 with a bachelor’s of science degree, majoring in sports management.
