Baseball Ventures to Charlotte for Tuesday Night Contest vs. UNC
Carolina will play at BB&T Ballpark for the second time this season.
COLUMBIA, S.C. — The University of South Carolina baseball team makes its second trip to BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte, N.C., as the Gamecocks face No. 17 North Carolina Tuesday night (April 16) at 7 p.m. Tuesday’s game will be streamed on ACC Network Extra. All games will be broadcast on The Game 107.5 FM and the Gamecock Sports Network with Derek Scott and Tommy Moody on the call. Carolina dropped 2-of-3 games at Florida this past weekend. The Gamecocks won the Friday night game, 6-3, as Cam Tringali pitched six solid innings and the offense belted four home runs.

SCOUTING NORTH CAROLINA
The Tar Heels won 2-of-3 games at Notre Dame this past weekend. Aaron Sabato had three hits and drove in three runs in the 10-1 series-opening win over the Fighting Irish. Ike Freeman leads the Tar Heels with a .339 batting average while Sabato has 11 doubles and nine home runs. On the mound, Tyler Baum is 7-2 with a 3.33 earned-run-average and 61 strikeouts in 51.1 innings pitched.
THE SERIES
North Carolina leads the all-time series 63-37-1 heading into Tuesday’s contest. Last season, the Tar Heels defeated the Gamecocks 11-3 on April 3 in Charlotte. Jonah Bride had two hits in the game.
TRINGALI EARNS WIN OVER THE GATORS
Cam Tringali had a strong start in Carolina’s 6-3 win over Florida on Friday night. The redshirt freshman from Columbia went six-plus innings, allowing just four hits with one earned run and three strikeouts with no walks. Tringali earned the win against the Gators, his second of the season. He is now 2-0 with a 2.81 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 41.2 innings pitched.
SEC LEADERS
At the plate, Jacob Olson is second in the SEC with 12 home runs. Senior TJ Hopkins is tied for third in triples (3), tied for ninth in total bases (80) and 10th in slugging percentage (.576). Olson is third in slugging percentage (.638) and fifth in total bases (88). Luke Berryhill is sixth in doubles (12). On the mound, Reid Morgan is tied for fourth with 57.0 innings pitched and Cam Tringali is tied for fifth with 17 appearances. As a team, SC is 14th in batting average, 13th in ERA and seventh in fielding percentage.

Carolina hosts Texas A&M in its third straight Thursday-Saturday series. Thursday and Friday’s games will start at 7 p.m. with Saturday’s contest a 4 p.m. first pitch. Saturday’s game will be televised on SEC Network.
