Gamecocks in the Summer Leagues Wrap-Up

The Gamecocks are back on the field in the second week of skill work, which means summer ball is in the rear-view mirror. Here’s a look at how the guys did in the various summer leagues across the country.

Cape Cod League
Ethan Petry (Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox) – Petry had an outstanding summer in the Cape, winning Pat Sorenti Most Valuable Player honors in the league after hitting .360 with 26 runs scored, seven doubles, 11 home runs, 25 RBI and a .760 slugging percentage. Petry also played in the Cape Cod All-Star Game and was the Robert A McNeese Outstanding Pro Prospect in the league.

Will Tippett (Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox) – Tippett played in 30 games for the Red Sox and had nine runs scored, a double, two home runs and 10 walks with a .338 on-base percentage.

Talmadge LeCroy (Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox) – LeCroy came in around the halfway point of the season and had an OPS of .854 with three doubles, a home run and three runs scored while catching for the Red Sox.

Nolan Nawrocki (Cotuit Kettleers) – Nawrocki played in 29 games for the Kettleers and had a .258 batting average to go along with 13 runs scored, two doubles, three home runs and 15 RBI with eight walks and a .692 OPS.

Nathan Hall (Cotuit Kettleers) – Hall played in 25 games for Cotuit and hit .333 with 17 runs scored, a double, a triple, a home run, seven RBI and seven walks. Hall ended the summer with a .813 on-base percentage.

Max Kaufer (Brewster Whitecaps) – Kaufer played in 14 games for the Whitecaps and had five runs scored, a triple, three RBI and four walks with a stolen base.

Ashton Crowther (Brewster Whitecaps) – Crowther pitched in four games for Brewster with two starts. In 11 innings pitched, he struck out 10 and had a .273 opponent’s batting average.

Northwoods League
Ryan Bakes (Rockford Rivets) – Bakes played in 27 games for Rockford and hit .260 with 29 runs scored, six doubles, a triple, five home runs and 18 RBI to go with 18 walks and 13 hit-by-pitches.

Coastal Plain League
Evan Stone (Lexington County Blowfish) – Stone played in 14 games for the Blowfish, hitting .302 with six doubles and two home runs in 53 at-bats. Stone scored 14 runs and had nine rBI with six walks and six stolen bases.

Valley League
Gavin Braland (Purcellville Cannons) – Braland hit .399 with three doubles, 14 runs scored, 11 RBI and nine walks in 20 games played for Purcellville. He had a .432 on-base percentage and an .819 OPS.

New England Collegiate League
Xavier Pelzer (Upper Valley Nighthawks) – Pelzer made three appearances for the Nighthawks in the NECBL and struck out three in 7.1 innings pitched.

MLB Draft League
Wyatt Evans (Frederick Keys) – Evans made six appearances for the Keys with a pair of starts, striking out 11 in 12 innings of work.

West Coast League
Dalton Mashore (Portland Pickles) – Mashore helped the Pickles win the West Coast League title. He played in 15 games and had seven doubles, a triple, eight RBI and a .275 batting average to go along with 13 walks and four stolen bases.
