2008: Outdoors competed in the javelin where he won his first meet of the year at the Weems Baskin Invitational … took fourth at the Spec Towns Invitational with a toss of 211-10 … placed seventh at the SEC Outdoor Championships with a throw of 208-9 … placed fifth at the NCAA East Regional Championships with a throw of 219-11 to advance to the NCAA Championships … finished 22nd at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

2007: Outdoors, competed in the shot put at the Hurricane Invite, placing 12th … placed second at the Penn Relays in the javelin with a mark of 212-1 that qualified him for the NCAA East Regionals … scored and placed third at the SEC Outdoor Championships after landing a 223-7 javelin throw.

2006: Redshirted due to injury.

HIGH SCHOOL: Coached by George Glover at Westwood Regional High School in the Township of Westwood, N.J., in 2005 … lettered four times in outdoor track and field, and three times during the indoor season … logged the top javelin throw (206-11) in the state and was a top-15 thrower nationally … also completed in the discus (159-1) and was the school record-holder in the shot put indoors (52-9 1/4) … was all-league, all-county and all-state … led the team to league, county and state sectional championships in 2005 … was the North Jersey Team of the Year by The Bergen Record and The Star-Ledger.

PERSONAL: Erik Paul Heymann was born Dec. 26, 1986, in Westwood, N.J. … nickname is ‘Scrappy’ … parents are Marianne and Herbert Heymann … working on a degree in philosophy … also considered Miami (Ohio), North Carolina State and Duke before casting his lot with the Gamecocks.
