
Ford Remains on Bowerman Watch List
COLUMBIA, S.C. (Feb. 5, 2025) – South Carolina Track & Field sophomore sprinter JaMeesia Ford has advanced to the first updated list of The Bowerman Watch List, as announced by The Bowerman Advisory Board on Wednesday afternoon.
Ford was named to the preseason watch list on Jan. 8 to open the 2025 indoor campaign. The South Carolina sprinter was named to seven Bowerman Watch Lists in 2024 and has now been a part of each of the first two watch lists this season.
The Bowerman debuted in 2009 and is named after former Oregon Head Coach Bill Bowerman and is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female NCAA track & field athletes in the nation.
Ford has ran a pair of individual races this season, winning the Gamecock Opener 300m (36.48) and winning the Corky Classic 400m (51.20). Her 400m time at the Corky Classic of 51.20 ranks second in the current world leaderboard, while her altitude-adjusted time of 51.31 sits second in the NCAA standings. In addition, her 300m run of 36.48 ranks fourth on the current world leaderboard.
Ford has also been a part of two 4×400 meter relay winning squads this season and most recently was the second leg of the distance medley relay for the Gamecocks on Saturday that broke both a Carolina Indoor Track & Field Facility Record and a program record, clocking 11:02.54.
Joining Ford on The Bowerman Watch List are Aaliyah Butler (Georgia – Sprints), Anthaya Charlton (Florida – Jumps), Rachel Glenn (Arkansas – Jumps/Hurdles), Doris Lemngole (Alabama – Distance), Hilda Olemomoi (Florida – Distance), Laura Pellicoro (Portland – Mid-Distance), Jaida Ross (Oregon – Throws), Chloe Timbert (Rutgers – Pole Vault) and Juliette Whittaker (Stanford – Mid-Distance).
Ford and the Gamecocks will be back in action this weekend for a pair of meets. A select group of distance athletes will make the trip to Boston University for the Scarlet & White Invitational, while other members of the team will head to Virginia Beach, Va. for the East Coast Invitational at the site of the 2025 NCAA Indoor Championship.
