Gamecocks Secure Midweek Shutout Against Terriers

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The No. 10/9 South Carolina softball team (28-7) picked up a midweek shutout Wednesday (Apr. 2) against the Wofford (20-15) 2-0.

Nealy Lamb (7-2) got the start and the win for the Gamecocks, tossed four innings with five strikeouts. Lamb maintained her accuracy in the second inning to strikeout the side.

Quincee Lilio drew a four-pitch leadoff walk in the bottom of the first. One out later, Arianna Rodi followed with a walk of her own after falling behind in the at bat 0-2. That set up Abigail Knight to put the first run on the board with a single through the right side on the first pitch she saw, scoring Karley Shelton. Knight went back-to-back with Lexi Winters, who singled to shortstop scoring Rodi and putting the Gamecocks up by a pair.

Jori Head picked up her second save of the season after a three-inning, one-hit appearance, as neither team plated a runner past the first inning. Lilio ended a bases-loaded threat from the Terriers with a clutch catch in center field to end the fifth inning.

South Carolina continues its homestand when it hosts No. 19 Ole Miss for Alumnae Weekend beginning Friday (Apr. 4) at 6 p.m.
