COLUMBIA, S.C. – The No. 10/11 South Carolina softball team (31-8) earned the a-rule win with a 12-0 shutout against the Charleston Southern Buccaneers (16-21) Wednesday (Apr. 9).

Nealy Lamb (8-2) was practically perfect in the circle, striking out four across three innings and giving up no hits and just one walk. Kadie Becker closed it out in the circle. Becker toss a pair of scoreless innings with a strikeout, no walks and one hit to secure the shutout.

The Gamecocks had a great day at the plate, with South Carolina scattering six extra-base hits across four innings of offense.

Arianna Rodi extended her on-base streak to 31 games with a double down the left field line in her first at-bat. Ella Chancey went two-for-three with a pair of RBIs and a stolen base.

The bats came alive in the first inning as Karley Shelton and Lexi Winters hit back-to-back RBI doubles. Shelton’s marks her team leading 15th of the season, which was followed later by Brooke Blankenship’s second triple of the season. The three extra-base hits, followed by a sacrifice fly from Natalie Heath, made for a six-run inning.

The Gamecocks had a good eye at the plate, with four consecutive no-out walks in the bottom of the second. Quincee Lilio took a free ride to lead off the inning, and Rodi and Karley Shelton drew back-to-back four-pitch walks to load the bases. That set up Winters to walk in yet another run for South Carolina. Chancey added on to the lead by smashing an RBI double to right center.

Shae Anderson scored a pair on a double in the bottom of the fourth, as she came all the way around to score on the play thanks to a CSU throwing error.

The Gamecocks began each inning with their leadoff batter reaching base.

South Carolina hits the road Friday (Apr. 11) to resume SEC play against No. 12 Arkansas at 6 p.m. ET.
