Track & Field to Host Final Outdoor Home Meet of the Season

COLUMBIA, S.C. (April 11, 2025) – Gamecock Track & Field will play host to its final home outdoor meet of the 2025 season on Saturday with the Gamecock Invite at the Sheila & Morris Cregger Track.

Know Before You Go
Sheila and Morris Cregger Track does have a CLEAR BAG POLICY that is in effect. Learn everything you need to know about the Clear Bag Policy by clicking here. There is also a WATER BOTTLE POLICY for all patrons and that is: one clear, plastic disposable water bottle is permitted. No hard, non-clear refillable bottles are allowed inside the facility.

Meet Information
The Gamecock Invite will be a one-day meet that will feature 13 teams total, including Virginia Tech, South Carolina State and Murray State. The meet will officially begin at 10 a.m. with the women’s hammer throw and the men’s javelin. The first event on the track will be the women’s 5,000 meter at 11 a.m. The Gamecock Invite will conclude with the women’s 4×400 meter relay at 4:30 p.m. and then the men’s 4×400 meter at 4:45 p.m.

Catching Up
Through three weekends of outdoor competition, the Gamecocks have secured 18 new Top 10 program outdoor marks. On the men’s side, there are six new program marks, including a new outdoor 10K program record from Rogerio Amaral who posted 28:23.41 at the Raleigh Relays. The women’s team has accounted for 12 new program marks including a new program record in the 1500 meter from Salma Elbadra with a time of 4:06.90 at the Raleigh Relays.

Regional Rankings
South Carolina currently has 28 marks inside the Top 48 in the East Region with five meets remaining before the NCAA East Regional. Within those 28 marks, 11 are currently sitting inside the Top 10 on the leaderboard. JaMeesia Ford opened her outdoor season last week at the Florida Relays and turned in the fastest 400m time in the NCAA this season, running 50.43. CJ Licata also registered a top mark in the NCAA in the men’s shot put, throwing 20.17m to win at the Florida Relays. South Carolina holds one more top time in the region in the women’s 4×400 meter relay, clocking 3:26.24 at the Florida Relays.
