COLUMBIA ââ’¬” The University of South Carolina baseball team took 2-of-3 games from No. 4 Ole Miss at Founders Park this past weekend and have now won eight of its last 10 games.

NOTES:
South Carolina has won three straight SEC series for the first time since 2012 after taking 2-of-3 games from No. 4 Ole Miss at Founders Park this past weekend. The two wins puts South Carolina in third place in the SEC East.

The Gamecocks put on their hitting shoes to the tune of 42 hits in the three games. Justin Row, Madison Stokes and Hunter Taylor had six hits apiece as Carolina hit .353 as a team with nine doubles and four home runs.

Carlos Cortes hit two home runs in the series and now has 13 home runs this season. He is second on the team with 37 RBI, three behind LT Tolbert.

The Gamecocks did not have a midweek game due to final exams. It’s the only time this season that Carolina did not have a midweek game.

Jonah Bride reached base in all three games this weekend and now has reached base in 44 of Carolina’s 47 games this year. Bride is hitting .333 with nine doubles, three home runs and has a .442 on-base percentage.

Carolina is hitting .330 in their last 10 games, which start with the first game of the LSU series. Bride is hitting at a .410 clip in those games while Cortes has 15 RBI in the last 10 contests.

Justin Row was a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs scored, a walk and an RBI on his birthday on Friday. Row hit .545 (6-for-11) on the weekend with a pair of doubles.

Adam Hill earned his fifth win of the season in Saturday’s game. Hill allowed just three hits and a run while striking out six to improve to 5-5 on the year. Hill has 79 strikeouts in 57 innings pitched in 2018.

Carolina has 61 home runs this season, already surpassing last year’s total of 58. Cortes leads the team with 13, followed by Olson with 10.

Eddy Demurias pitched six innings of relief in two appearances against Ole Miss. He struck out four in the process. Demurias leads the team with 22 appearances and has 36 strikeouts on the season.

South Carolina faces the College of Charleston on Wednesday night at Spirit Communications Park, home of the Columbia Fireflies. The Gamecocks then host Missouri this weekend. Saturday’s game will be Senior Day as Carolina will honor Jonah Bride, Justin Row, Madison Stokes, Hunter Taylor and Matt Williams before the game.
