Olarra, Go Collect All-America Honors From Golfweek

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina women’s golfers Ainhoa Olarra and Lois Kaye Go have garnered All-America honors from Golfweek, the publication announced Sunday. Olarra was named to the Golfweek All-America Second Team, while Go was tabbed an All-American Honorable Mention by the organization.

This weekend’s accolade marked the second All-America laurel of the season for Olarra, who was selected to the WGCA All-America Second Team in May. Go picked up her first career All-America honors following a productive first season with the Gamecocks.

Olarra, a recent Gamecock graduate, set a single-season program record with a 71.00 stroke average during her senior campaign. Her scoring mark ranked ninth in NCAA Division I, and she notched five top-five showings and the individual title at the 2018 Florida State Match-Up and 2018 SEC Championship this past spring. Olarra shot par or better in 18 of her 26 rounds as a senior and closed her time with the Gamecocks with the school’s second-lowest career scoring average (73.44).

Go emerged as a steady force in Carolina’s lineup after transferring from Boston College last season. The Cebu City, Philippines, native tallied six top-20 finishes and placed inside the top 10 three times. She finished par or better in each of Carolina’s first three events of the season and boasted the best showing of her sophomore campaign at the 2018 Bryan National Collegiate, where she tied for third. Go’s 72.45 scoring average this past year ranks as the fourth-best single-season mark in program history.

The Gamecocks, who closed their 2017-18 campaign ranked No. 12 by Golfstat, have now boasted multiple All-America honorees in each of the last five years under head coach Kalen Anderson. Olarra closed her collegiate career with four All-America laurels after picking up ones from the WGCA and Golfweek in each of her final two seasons.
