Gamecocks Begin ITA All-American Championships with Four Wins

CARY, N.C. – South Carolina completed the first day of the ITA All-American Championships on Saturday, picking up four wins throughout singles and doubles

Bella Bergkvist Larsson opened up the tournament with a big win in singles, defeating sixth seeded Greta Greco Lucchina of California Berkely, 6-2, 6-4 in the round of 256. Freshman Daniela Piani started her collegiate debut on a high note, winning her singles match in the round of 256 over her opponent from University of Miami in a 6-4, 6-2 showing. Piani later on paired up with Kaitlyn Carnicella as the fifth seeds for the open doubles round of 32, advancing to the next round following a dominant 6-2, 6-0 victory. Lauren Friedman and Helena Buchwald were the second Gamecocks of the day to take down a seeded opponent, winning 6-2, 6-4.
