Gamecocks End Day One of ITA Regionals with Four Wins

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – South Carolina completed the first day of the ITA Carolina Regional Championships on Thursday evening, grabbing four wins throughout the first round of singles competition.

Bella Bergkvist Larsson picked up the Gamecocks’ first win of the tournament after defeating Elon’s Lisa Kranec, 6-4, 6-0 in the qualifying round of 64. Jane Dunyon followed suit, notching another win against her opponent from Charleston Southern. Both athletes went on to win their next matches, advancing them to the round of 16 of the qualifying draw.

Kaitlyn Carnicella, Daniela Piani and Jana Stojanova begin action tomorrow in the main draw.
