Gamecocks Wrap Up Day One of ITA Sectionals

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.  – South Carolina women’s tennis completed day one of the ITA Sectional Championships on Thursday afternoon in Chapel Hill.

Daniela Piani kicked things off for the Gamecocks, securing a first-round win 6-3, 6-1, against Anastasia Sysoeva from Syracuse. Despite fighting hard in the second set, Kaitlyn Carnicella ultimately fell to Elean Yu from Duke, 6-3, 7-5.

In the first round of doubles play, Bella Bergqvist. Larsson and Carnicella defeated the UNC duo, 6-2, 6-2, to wrap up the day.
