South Carolina takes to the Road for Razorback Invitational
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (Jan. 29, 2026) – South Carolina Track & Field is set to compete in the Razorback Invitational this weekend in Fayetteville, Ark. The 2026 Razorback Invitational will be a two-day meet beginning on Friday afternoon at the Randal Tyson Track Center.

Meet Information
The Razorback Invitational will be a two-day meet featuring 13 of the top teams from across the country. On the men’s side, six of the 13 teams are found ranked inside the USTFCCCA Top 25 that was released on Tuesday afternoon. Georgia enters as the highest ranked men’s team at No. 2, followed by No. 4 Texas Tech, No. 9 Illinois and the 10th-ranked Gamecocks rounding out the Top 10. Oregon (No.13) and Michigan (No. 22) join the Top 25 rankings ahead of the Razorback Invitational.
Meanwhile on the women’s side, eight of the 13 teams are ranked inside the Top 25. This weekend will feature the top three women’s teams in the country in No. 1 Illinois, No. 2 Georgia and South Carolina slotted at No. 3. Texas Tech (No. 6), Oregon (No. 9) and Florida State (No. 10) round out the Top 10 entries, while Kentucky (No. 17) and 25th-ranked Arkansas conclude the Top 25 teams in the field.
South Carolina’s first event on Friday will be the men’s pole vault at 3 p.m. (ET), with the final event of the day for the Gamecocks coming in the form of the women’s distance medley relay at 9:10 p.m. (ET). The Gamecock men will open Saturday’s festivities at 12:10 p.m. (ET) in the 60-meter hurdle prelims, while the women will close the meet with the 4×400 meter relay at 6 p.m. (ET). In all, South Carolina will compete in 10 events on Friday and a potential for 19 events on Saturday.
Standout Trio
South Carolina Track & Field produced top NCAA times the last time out at the Orange & Purple Invite, resulting in a trio of Gamecocks earning SEC Indoor Track & Field weekly honors. Those awards included Men’s Runner of the Week (Jaouad Khchina), Men’s Freshman of the Week (Andrew Salvodon) and the Women’s Runner of the Week (Zaya Akins).
Khchina claimed both the USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week and the SEC Men’s Runner of the Week after running a program record 1000m time of 2:17.36. Khchina’s also becomes the second fastest 1000m runner in collegiate history following his race in the Upstate. Salvodon delivered two NCAA Top 10 performances, clocking a 46.28 in the 400m which ranks seventh all-time at South Carolina and eighth nationally. The freshman sprinter then anchored the men’s 4x400m relay to a program record 3:04.15, which currently ranks second in the NCAA. Akins swept both of her events, posting an NCAA leading 51.15 in the 400m to set a personal best, facility record and move to second all-time in program history. She then led off the winning women’s 4x400m relay that now sits ninth nationally at 3:32.63.
