Starting Strong
The Gamecocks have come out of the gates hot to start the indoor season. Last week at the Razorback Invitational, South Carolina broke a pair of program records in the women’s pole vault (Jathiyah Muhammad – 4.50m) and the women’s DMR (Buridon, Garrett, Mast, Elbadra – 10:51.52). In all, South Carolina recorded 12 new Top 10 program marks while in Fayetteville, Ark.

In the Rankings
With only four weekends left of competition until the NCAA Indoor Championship, Gamecock fans can start leaderboard watching. To qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championship in Fayetteville, Ark., athletes must rank Top 16 in their own individual events while ranking Top 12 for relay qualifications.

As it stands now, South Carolina has a combined 15 entries for the national championship meet. Tyson Williams leads all Gamecocks in rankings as he holds to the top spot in the men’s 200m with a time of 20.47. Zaya Akins sits second in the 400m (51.15), with Salma Elbadra ranking third in the women’s 3K (8:41.76). Both men and women’s 4x400m relays are comfortably inside the top five nationally, while the women’s DMR squad ranks fourth overall and looking primed for a national title run.
