Track & Field Completes Day One of Split Weekend
CLEMSON, S.C. (Feb. 13, 2026) – South Carolina Track & Field opened day one of its split weekend on Friday afternoon, competing in the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, S.C. and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston, Mass.
In the Upstate, the Gamecock men stole the show with one win and a pair of Top 10 program marks. Brandon Dennis was responsible for the lone victory, doing so in the shot put circle. The veteran thrower was able to secure the win with a distance of 17.28m (56-8.5) for his first victory of the season. Meanwhile on the track, quarter milers Andrew Salvodon and Josiah Wrice put on a display in the men’s 400m. Salvodon finished third overall as he ran a new personal best time of 45.44, jumping into second all time in program history. Wrice was also able to clock a new personal best, turning in a mark of 45.55 to sit third in school history and finish fifth overall. The duo becomes just the third and fourth Gamecocks to ever run indoor sub-46 second 400m sprints. Additionally, Salvodon slides into third on the NCAA leaderboard, while Wrice jumps into sixth.
The men’s distance squad competed in Boston on day one of the David Hemery Valentine Invitational and secured a pair of Top 10 program performances. Edouard Lecrivain improved on his personal best in the invite section of the 800m, running 1:47.31 to secure the second fastest indoor 800m in Gamecock history. Kaleb Burroughs, already ranking sixth in program history for the indoor mile, improved on his personal best time after running 4:05.28.
The Gamecock women were responsible for one win at the Tiger Paw Invitational as Tristen Harris claimed her third long jump title of the season. The talented freshman was able to set a mark of 6.40m (21-0) for the win. Jathiyah Muhammad claimed bronze in the invite section of the pole vault, finishing second among collegiate athletes in the competition after clearing 4.32m (14-2).
The Gamecocks will close out the weekend by capping off both meets tomorrow. The women’s distance squad will take on the David Hemery Valentine Invitational beginning at 10:42 a.m. with the 800m and conclude with the 5K at 7:10 p.m. Meanwhile in Clemson, South Carolina will begin the day at 12:25 p.m. with the women’s 200m and will cap off the venture in the Upstate with the men’s 4x400m relay at 3:25 p.m.
