Harrison Named SEC Freshman of the Week

Freshman from Kannapolis, N.C. had his first career top-10 finish earlier this week at The Hayt at Sawgrass Country Club

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Talan Harrison was named SEC Freshman of the Week for the second time this spring the league office announced on Wednesday. The first-year player from Kannapolis, N.C. recorded his first career top-10 finish on Monday at The Hayt.

He shot 209 (-7) to lead the Gamecocks with a T-9^th finish in a strong field that featured eight top-25 teams.

Harrison rose 41 spots up the leaderboard in the final two rounds with a 67 (-5) in round two and a 69 (-3) in round three. He tied for the team lead with 11 birdies over the course of 54-holes. In the final round, Harrison had a pair of eagles on the front nine and was one of just three players in the 90-man field to record multiple eagles during the event.

South Carolina will be back in action as it host the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate March 22-24 in The Lowcountry.
