Conklin, Krzeczowski Collect Academic Honor From CoSIDA

CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina senior defender Anna Conklin and sophomore goalkeeper Mikayla Krzeczowski have been named to the women’s soccer CoSIDA Academic District 4 Team, the organization announced Thursday afternoon. Both Gamecocks received the academic honor for the first time.

The two Carolina standouts will now be placed on the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot. First, second and third-team All-America honorees will be revealed in December.

Conklin, a sport and entertainment management major, boasts a cumulative GPA of 3.75. The Randolph, N.J., native has been named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll in each of her first three seasons, and she has made the start at left back in each of Carolina’s 42 matches since 2016. The Gamecocks, who have conceded just nine goals in 2017, lead the SEC and rank 12th in Division I in goals against average (0.49) this season.

Krzeczowski has remained elite in her second year in net for Carolina. The Douglasville, Ga., native has notched a league-best 11 clean sheets, and she ranks second in the conference in save percentage (.820). Krzeczowski, who is third in program history with 23 shutouts, collected All-SEC honors for the second-straight year this season. The visual communications major and 2016-2017 SEC Academic Honor Roll selection sports a cumulative GPA of 3.47.

Conklin, Krzeczowski and the Gamecocks open NCAA Tournament play on Fri., Nov. 10, against Alabama State. Kickoff between top-seeded Carolina and the Lady Hornets is slated for 6 p.m. ET at Stone Stadium, and the match can be seen on SEC Network+.
