Sept. 29, 2017

Equestrian vs. No. 1 Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — South Carolina equestrian was tied 5-5 with No.1 Texas A&M after Equitation over Fences and Horsemanship but a late run in Equitation on the Flat and Reining proved to be the difference as the Aggies walked away with a 12-8 victory Friday in College Station, Texas.

For her efforts in horsemanship, Madison Thiel was named MOP while the Aggies took the remaining three MOP honors.

QUOTING HEAD COACH Boo Major

“I thought for our first road competition to be in College Station and going against the defending NCEA champions, you can never be carried away with not winning, but I thought there was a lot of improvement from the year before. Our girls came in with a lot of confidence. I think they rode very hard. I’m very pleased with our western team, I thought they rode well. Our horsemanship team was very good. Madison Brayman was a big bright spot for us. We had a good day. You always call it a learning experience. I think we were able to learn a lot today.”
