RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – Gamecock women’s golf standout Katelyn Dambaugh wrapped up play at the 2017 ANA Inspiration Saturday at the Dinah Shore Tournament Course of Mission Hills Country Club. The senior, who had 11 holes to play in round two at the conclusion of Friday’s action, carded a second-round 80 (+8) to bring her 36-hole total to 160 (+16).
Dambaugh, one of six amateurs in the field, finished outside of the cut line at the major in her LPGA Tour debut. She totaled two birdies in her second round, registering ones on the par-5 ninth and par-5 11th.
The Goose Creek, S.C., native, who garnered First-Team All-America honors as a junior, has paced Carolina in 13 of its 17 tournament since the start of the 2015-16 season. Her 72.65 career stroke average and 71.62 scoring average last year both stand as program records, and the senior is one of two Gamecocks to notch double-digit (13) top-five finishes for her career.
Dambaugh, the No. 7 ranked player in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, closed this past fall with three-straight top-five showings, including runner-up honors at the 2016 Cougar Classic with a program-record 206 (-10). Her 71.00 stroke average this season ranks 11th among Division I golfers.
