Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina junior left-handed pitcher David Marchbanks and senior third baseman Brian Buscher have earned Collegiate Baseball All-American honors. Marchbanks, the 2003 SEC Pitcher of the Year, was named first team All-American and Buscher, an All-SEC selection, was named a third team All-American.

Among the nation’s leaders in wins, Marchbanks has a 13-2 record with a 2.38 ERA and leads the SEC in wins (13), innings pitched (117) and earned run average (2.38). The junior from Simpsonville, S.C. owns 88 strikeouts on the year and has allowed just 19 walks. In his three-year career at Carolina, Marchbanks has accumulated a 29-7 record and is currently eighth on the All-Time Gamecock Wins List.

Buscher, one of three captains on this year’s squad, continues to lead the SEC in hitting with a .386 batting average and is among the SEC leaders in home runs (12) and RBI (57). The senior from Jacksonville, Fla. has 30 multi-hit games this year for Carolina.

South Carolina continues NCAA Regional play on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. vs. the winner of the Georgia Tech/Stetson game.
