Gamecocks Conclude Weekend at Charlotte Invitational

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Carolina men’s tennis team closed out its weekend at the Charlotte Invitational on Sunday with one round of singles play. Highlighting the final day of action was freshman Scotty Cameron, who collected a win in his draw’s third place match.

Cameron downed Clemson’s Arturo Pinazo 6-4, 6-3 to finish third in the B1 draw. Over in the A1 draw, Wood Benton fell to Giles Hussy of Georgia State 7-5, 6-4, and Alex Fennell was defeated by Appalachian State’s Scott Webster 6-7 (3), 6-3, 6-2. In the A2 draw, Sam Swank was downed by Brent Lett of Clemson 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.

The Gamecocks are back in action this coming weekend, Nov. 4-6, as the team splits up between the Bulldog Scramble in Athens, Ga. and the SEC Fall Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala. for what will be the last two tournaments of the fall campaign.
