Athens, Georgia – The No. 14-ranked South Carolina women’s golf team recorded at 299 Friday and stands in seventh place at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in Athens, Georgia. The Lady Gamecocks trail Florida and Duke, who are tied for the lead, by just four strokes.
Sophomore Tiffany Catafygiotu shot a one-under par 71 and is currently tied for fourth place. Catafygiotu is four strokes off the lead and only trails second place by one stroke. Junior Marci Robinson fired a three-over par 75 and is tied for 24th.
Senior Kacy Thompson recorded a four-over par 76 Friday and stands in 29th place. Junior Kory Thompson is close behind after she fired a 77 and currently stands in a tie for 36th place. Junior Adrienne Gautreaux wrapped up the Lady Gamecocks’ team scoring with a 78 and is in a tie for 47th place. Freshman Erica Battle is playing as an individual and she fired an 82 and is in a tie for 77th place.
Florida and Duke are tied for first with a 295. Wake Forest, Auburn, and East Carolina are tied for third place with a score of 298.
Ashley Leonard of East Carolina stands in first place with a score of five-under par 67. Darby Sligh of Alabama and Karin Sjodin of Oklahoma State are tied for second place with a score of two-under par 70. Rachel Lester of Kentucky, Lindsay Knowlton of Ohio State, and Catafygiotu are all tied for fourth place with a 71.
Play will begin Saturday at 9:00 a.m.
