COLUMBIA, S.C. – Garnet and Black tied 3-3 in game two of the Garnet & Black World Series on Sunday afternoon at Carolina Stadium. The two teams played nine innings. The series finale is scheduled for Monday at 3 p.m.
KEY STAT
Both starting pitchers allowed two runs with right-hander Tyler Haswell allowing two runs on four hits in four innings and right-hander Reed Scott allowing two runs on four hits in 3.2 innings.
NOTABLES
Junior infielder DC Arendas hit a solo home run for Black in the third inning.
Sophomore infielder Jordan Gore tallied a RBI single and three walks and scored a run as well for Black.
Senior first baseman Kyle Martin drove in a run with a sacrifice fly and also walked twice and singled for Garnet.
Sophomore outfielder Gene Cone singled, scored a run and walked twice for Garnet.
Junior infielder Marcus Mooney had two more hits and has four hits through two games in the Garnet & Black World Series. He also had a sacrifice bunt and was hit by a pitch.
Freshman right-hander Tyler Johnson pitched four scoreless innings of relief with three strikeouts. Right-handers Cody Mincey and Preston Johnson also had scoreless outings out of the pen for their respective teams.
