CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Hadley Berg and Elixane Lechemia from the South Carolina women’s tennis team dropped a 4-6, 6-3, (10-7) decision to Ashley Dai and Kate Vialle from North Carolina in the doubles championship of the USTA/ITA Carolina Regional Championships at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center in Chapel Hill, N.C., on Monday.
South Carolina had an impressive run in doubles throughout the entire ITA Regional. The Gamecocks advanced four of their five entries to the quarterfinals and two teams to the semifinals. Through the first two days of the event, South Carolina held a 10-1 record in doubles and finished the tournament with a combined 13-4 mark.
The Gamecocks have a pair of tournaments left on their schedule this fall. A split squad will travel to Providence, R.I., for the Brown Classic over Nov. 7-9 while the other goes to Chapel Hill for the Kitty Harrison Invitational.
