COLUMBIA, S.C. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) released its 2013-14 Scholar-Athletes list today, and nine South Carolina student-athletes earned that distinction.

Three Gamecocks are return members of the listing. Redshirt senior Julie Sarratt garnered the honors for a third time, while Kristen Struett and Ansley Ard both made the rolls for a second time.

Also on the list were a slate of Gamecock newcomers, led by transfer Sarah Mooney. Five of last year’s freshman class captured spots, including Nickie Blue, Kate Shereyk, Kaylea Snaer, Macey Webb and Victoria Williams.

A total of 1,096 student-athletes from the NCAA Division I level earned the accolade, with all making it posting a 3.5 grade-point average or higher. In the past two years, 16 other Gamecocks have been listed by the NFCA.

The Gamecocks continue their fall slate at 6 p.m. on Friday at the College of Charleston.
