Scheper Qualifies for Finals at Commonwealth Games

GLASGOW, Scotland – Senior high jumper Jeannelle Scheper advanced through today’s qualifying round at the 2014 Commonwealth Games with a jump of 6′-¾” (1.85m). Scheper was one of 12 competitors to move on to Friday’s final at Hampden Park Stadium.

The native of Gros-Islet, Saint Lucia, who redshirted the outdoor season for the Gamecocks this spring, cruised through qualification, passing on the first two heights before not missing an attempt at the following three heights of 5′-9¼”(1.76m), 5′-11¼”(1.81m) and 6′-¾”(1.85m). She was one of seven athletes to not miss on an attempt.

Friday’s final is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. ET. Scheper is one of six competitors in the field to have recorded a personal best of 6′-3¼” (1.91m) or higher.
