COLUMBIA, S.C. – Several Gamecocks are participating in summer baseball leagues throughout the United States. Here are some highlights from some of the players that are playing through July 15, 2014.
Gene Cone (Florence Redwolves – Coastal Plain League)
In the 23 games Cone has played in with the Redwolves this summer, Cone has reached base in all 23 games, has tallied at least one hit in 20 of those games and has scored 19 runs. Cone has been selected to represent the West in the Coastal Plain League All-Star Game. He is hitting .374 (34-for-91) with 19 runs scored and a .447 on-base percentage.
Vince Fiori (Cotuit Kettleers – Cape Cod League)
In four outings this summer, Fiori has posted a record of 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA in 12.0 innings pitched.
Jordan Gore (Florence Redwolves – Coastal Plain League)
Gore has reached base in 18 out of 23 games he has played in and is hitting .274 with five runs scored and 13 RBI with the Redwolves. Gore has also been selected to represent the West in the Coastal Plain League All-Star Game.
Tyler Haswell (Wilmington Sharks – Coastal Plain League)
Haswell has struck out 14 in his six outings with the Sharks.
Logan Koch (Plymouth Pilgrims – New England Collegiate Baseball League)
Koch is batting .277 (13-for-47) with 2 runs scored and 4 RBI in 14 games played with the Pilgrims this summer.
Kyle Martin (Columbia Blowfish – Coastal Plain League)
Martin officially joined the Columbia Blowfish for the second half of the CPL season and went 2-for-4 with two RBI in his first game, a 6-3 win over Wilmington on July 8.
John Parke (Wilmington Sharks – Coastal Plain League)
In his most recent outing on July 2 vs. Fayetteville, Parke picked up the no-decision going 5.1 innings giving up two runs and striking out three for the Sharks.
Josh Reagan (Columbia Blowfish – Coastal Plain League)
Reagan has earned a win in his last two starts. He struck out six in 5.1 innings on July 8 in a win over Wilmington. On July 2 at Gastonia, Reagan picked up the win going 7.0 innings and allowing three runs on five hits.
