Scheper Takes Fourth in High Jump at Commonwealth Games

GLASGOW, Scotland – Senior high jumper Jeannelle Scheper finished tied for fourth in the high jump finals today at the 2014 Commonwealth Games at Hampden Park Stadium in Glasgow.
The native of Gros-Islet, Saint Lucia opened up the event by passing at 5′-10″ (1.78m) before clearing 5′-11½”(1.82m) and 6′-1¼”(1.86m) on her first attempts. After missing on her first attempt at 6′-2¼”(1.89m), Scheper was able to clear the bar the second time around.
Unfortunately, she was unable to match her personal best in the event when the height moved up to 6′-3½” (1.92m). She finished in a tie with Cyprus’ Leonita Kallenou who missed once at 6′-2¼” (1.89m) as well.
Great Britain’s Eleanor Patterson captured gold with a mark of 6′-4¼” (1.94m). England’s Isobel Pooley finished second and Saint Lucia’s Levern Spencer took third with both clearing 6′-3½” (1.92m).
