SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Several current and former Gamecocks were in action against the finest the nation has the offer at the 2014 USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships in Sacramento, Calif., on Friday. Rising junior Tyler Brockington advanced to the 400-meter hurdle semifinals.

Chris Royster’s run in the 100 meters came to an end on Friday evening. Royster advanced to the semifinal with a time of 10.34 in the first round yesterday. He bettered his effort to 10.28 today, finishing 11th, just outside of the eight-man final.

Brockington moved on to tomorrow’s 400-meter hurdle semifinals, finishing just behind Olympic silver medalist and former Gamecock Lashinda Demus. Demus was 12th with a 58.02, while Brockington was 13th at 58.16. Tiffany Ross Williams, another former Gamecock topped the intermediate hurdle crossing in 55.14.

Johnny Dutch, who also competed for South Carolina collegiately, turned in the fastest men’s 400-meter hurdle time, advancing to the semis with his time of 49.99.

In the women’s 100-meter dash, alum Shalonda Solomon moved through to the finals with an 11.12 (+2.0) and took 5th in the finals with an 11.40 (-2.0) into the wind.

Rising sophomore Briana Haith advanced to the 400-meter dash semifinals yesterday, but did not start in today’s race.

The USATF Outdoor Championships continue on Saturday and Sunday
