all spring … Gave a solid performance in the fall with a 5-4 record … Her highlight victory of the fall and season as a whole included a three-set triumph over Catherine Newman of Vanderbilt at the Furman Fall Classic in September … Newman entered the match ranked No. 46 nationally and played No. 1 singles for the Commodores in the spring, ending the season with a ranking of 23rd … Morgina played the entire spring at No. 3 singles, where she posted a 15-8 record … Held a 14-3 record after her first 17 dual matches and began the spring ranked No. 69, her highest of the year … Won the first NCAA Tournament match of her career with a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Kayla Duncan of TCU that helped the Gamecocks come back from losing the doubles point to defeat the Horned Frogs 4-2 … A strong performer in doubles for South Carolina as well, playing the bulk of the spring with Adriana Pereira at the No. 3 spot … The pair went 6-4 in regular-season SEC matches at the third position … Ended the year, however, with a different partner in Miljana Jocic, which proved to be a successful combination as well … The two went 5-2 overall and were 3-0 at No. 2 doubles … Listed at No. 105 in the nation in the final ITA singles rankings and appeared in every edition but one of the association’s spring rankings … Named the New Female Athlete of the Year for the entire athletics department at the annual Gamecock Gala in April. 2008-09 (FRESHMAN): Spent her freshman year in Terre Haute, Ind., playing for the Indiana State Sycamores … Helped her team to a second-place finish in the Missouri Valley Conference with a 6-2 record … ISU finished 8-12 overall after losing to Northern Iowa in the quarterfinals of the MVC Tournament … Voted to the MVC All-Select Team … Posted a 17-3 the MVC. HIGH SCHOOL: Ranked as high as 142nd in the world in the International Tennis Federation juniors … Won the ITF Egypt International Championships in singles in 2007 and 2008 … Picked up the doubles title at the 2008 Egypt championships as well with partner Natela Dzalamidze … Claimed the 2007 Egypt doubles title with May El Wardany … She and Petra Jurova won the doubles championship at the Damascus International Junior Tournament in Syria in July 2008 … Won a singles title at the ITF East Africa Circuit in Burundi in November 2007 … Won a pair of additional doubles titles on the ITF circuit with Galina Fokina and the duo made the finals of two ITA tournaments as well.
