EUGENE, Ore. – The Gamecocks wrapped up their running events on the second day of the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Championships at the University of Oregon’s historic Hayward Field.

In her individual NCAA debut, Ahtyana Johnson took the track in the 200-meter semifinals. The Gamecock went out well into a light headwind and crossed in 23.69 to finish 17th overall.

In the Gamecocks’ final event of the day, Johnson returned, taking leadoff for the women’s 4×400-meter relay of in the semifinals. Briana Haith, Tyler Brockington and Tamera Harris joined Johnson on the team. Brockington made a move on the third leg and Harris kept it going, but the quartet’s time of 3:36.09 was not enough to advance.

Earlier on in the day, senior Chris Royster, who as derailed by a cramp in yesterday’s 100-meter dash semifinals, was slated to run in today’s 200-meter dash semifinals, but scratched.

Tomorrow, senior pole vault school record holder Petra Olsen makes her third-straight NCAA Outdoor Championship appearance. She is the lone Gamecock in action on Friday with the women’s pole vault set for 6:15 p.m. ET.
