No. 35 South Carolina Cruises Past Murray State 6-0

LEXINGTON, Ky. – No. 35 South Carolina posted an efficient 6-0 win over Murray State in the first match of a split doubleheader at Hilary J. Boone Varsity Tennis Complex on the University of Kentucky campus. The Gamecocks improved to 13-11 on the season as the teams played only singles, during which five of the six matches had at least one 6-0 set.
At the top of the lineup, junior Andrew Adams enjoyed his first outing with the No. 75 ranking as he yielded just one game to Murray State’s Adam Taylor in the 6-0, 6-1 victory that sent the tone for the remainder of the matches. No. 78 Tsvetan Mihov won his fourth match in five outings with a 6-0, 6-4 decision over Max McLean in the No. 2 spot in the order, and Thiago Pinheiro closed his match against Nick Mitric strong, taking a 6-3, 6-0 victory.
Chip Cox pushed past David Hess 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 4 match, and Andrew Schafer won his third straight decision – fifth in the last six matches – 6-0, 6-1 over Anjan Kashyab in the fifth spot in the order. Freshman Sam Swank kept his perfect dual-match record going with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Mateo Barroetavena to round out the lineup.
South Carolina will return to Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex this afternoon at 4 p.m. to take on the 14th-ranked Kentucky Wildcats.
