COLUMBIA, S.C. – Jordan Gore’s one-out solo homer in the bottom of the 14th lifted second ranked South Carolina to a 3-2 walk-off win over 20th ranked Tennessee in the resumption of game one of the series between the Gamecocks and Volunteers. The Gamecocks are now 22-3 and 4-3 in the SEC with Tennessee 19-5 and 3-4 in league play.

Jack Wynkoop won in his first relief stint with three innings of scoreless relief. He is now 5-1 on the year. Tennessee reliever Trevor Bettencourt suffered the loss and is now 0-1 for the season.

The game began on Friday evening and was halted before the top of the 12th due to rain in Columbia and resumed Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. Gore’s blast was his first career home run in a Gamecock uniform.

Tennessee took a 1-0 lead over South Carolina in the top of the fourth. Christin Stewart doubled down the left field line and advanced to third on Nick Senzel’s base hit. With two outs, Stewart would then score when Elliot Caldwell dropped a fly ball in left field.

The Gamecocks responded with a run in the bottom of the six to tie the score at 1-1. With two outs, Joey Pankake singled and quickly came home as Kyle Martin followed with a double that landed just in front of the bull pen in left-center.

The Volunteers reclaimed the lead in the top of the eighth. Will Maddox walked and Scott Price was hit by a pitch to open the frame. After the runners advanced on A.J. Simcox’s sacrifice bunt, Maddox was able to score on Stewart’s sacrifice fly to right field and give Tennessee a 2-1 advantage.

The Gamecocks responded in the bottom of the eighth to tie the game. Tanner English bunted for a base hit to lead off the inning. After a wild pitch and a groundout advanced him to third base, he was able to score on a passed ball and tie the game at 2-2.
