Junior First Baseman Kyle Martin
On losing the last two games…

We’ve been playing well the past two games, so it’s tough. We thought we had it in the bag today but we just couldn’t hang on to it, same as yesterday.

On injuries throughout the team…
We have a couple of people sick, a couple of people out. As a team we just have to fight through it and anyone coming off the bench has to fill that spot just as well as anyone that is starting would.

On losing after having two leads…
We just had a couple of errors bite us in the butt today, nothing really we can do about that, it’s baseball.

Freshman Pitcher Wil Crowe
On his performance today…

I felt good. I felt like I had a decent amount of stuff, I just didn’t make enough pitches when I needed to.

On overcoming errors…
You just have to bear down and throw that much better and that many more strikes. You can’t really get down about it. [Marcus] Mooney is a great infielder and nothing is on him. I just have to make some better pitches and get outs.

On being up late and losing…
You don’t expect that and you don’t want that but it’s the way of the game. It’s a long season and there are ups and downs, but we just have to battle back and get back ahead and start winning some more games.

Head Coach Chad Holbrook
Opening Statement

Obviously it was a disappointing loss and a disappointing series loss. We had a chance to win in all three games and really just couldn’t hold a lead. As far as today’s game, I was proud of the players that I put in there that haven’t normally played because they gave me everything that they had. I thought that they competed their rear-ends off, as did our team. We scratched and clawed and I tried to get us five runs, which usually wins the game for us, and it didn’t today. You have to give credit to Florida. They put it in play and we got just what we wanted there with [Peter] Alonso up the middle and it we couldn’t make the play. That could have easily been a double play and we win the game. Baseball is a cruel game sometimes and we had some other opportunities early in the game. We were up 1-0 with the bases loaded and our best hitter at the plate and we couldn’t get anything there. Just like yesterday we had opportunities to win and our guys competed and played their tails off the best that they could. I’m sure that we could have done some thing’s better but we couldn’t make the big plays when it counted or make the big pitches or get the big hit and that sums up the weekend. Their pitchers made the big pitches and their hitters made the big hits and that is why they deserve and did, win two games.

On his message to the team after the game…
It was one game, and we are only half way through the SEC season. Our backs are against the wall a little bit because in the last half we have nine road games and only six at home, so we are going to find out how tough of a team we are. I still, as I sit up here, believe that our team is fortunate because we are only one game off of pace [for first place] . I don’t think that we have swung the bat well and I don’t think the way that we have played is the way that we are capable of playing and we are one game off of the pace. We have to dust ourselves off and get back to work to try and play better.

On playing through injuries…
We have to make plans to play with out Max [Schrock] and Joey [Pankake, we have to play our healthy guys. I’m happy for Jordan [Gore] for stepping up in to Joey’s spot, and hitting one out of the park. Maybe I haven’t been playing that kid enough and maybe I haven’t been playing Patrick Harrington enough. I have to make some better decisions, apparently. I didn’t push the right buttons today.
