COLUMBIA, S.C. – The 24th-ranked South Carolina softball team continues with SEC play this weekend as they travel to Baton Rouge, La. to face the 5th-ranked Louisiana State Tigers, March 23-24. A doubleheader is scheduled for Saturday at 2:00 p.m. (CT) and game three is scheduled for Sunday at 11:00 a.m. (CT).

The match-up between the Tigers and Gamecocks will feature the SEC Player of the Week, USC’s Amber Curtis, and the two-time SEC Pitcher of the Week, LSU’s Britni Sneed. The game also pits last year’s SEC regular season champions from the East and West. LSU leads the series with Carolina 6-8 including a 2-2 record in Baton Rouge. This will be the first meeting between last year’s two division champions since the SEC championship game last year.

Carolina enters the series 21-8 overall and 4-2 in the SEC, while the Tigers are 21-7 overall, 6-2 in the SEC. LSU is coming off a series with Mississippi State in which they went 2-1. USC went 2-1 against MSU in Starkville last weekend.

The Gamecocks are 9-6 in road games for the season. Six of the wins and three if the losses are at neutral sites.
