KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Junior goalkeeper Sabrina D’Angelo was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-America First Team, the organization announced.

The Welland, Ontario native was one of four players from the Southeastern Conference selected to the first team. She joins former Gamecocks Blakely Mattern (2009 first team) and Mollie Patton (2009 fourth team) as the only student-athletes in program history to earn scholar All-America honors from the NSCAA.

Earlier this month, D’Angelo was named to the NSCAA All-America First Team after posting one the best seasons for a keeper in school history. She joins Mattern as the only Gamecocks to earn a place on both the NSCAA’s All-America and Scholar All-America first teams in the same season.

In the classroom, D’Angelo boasts a 3.72 GPA in exercise science. On the field, she tripled her previous season-high in shutouts with 12 this fall and recorded a 0.59 goals against average. For the second time in three seasons, she was named SEC Defensive Player of the Year and earned All-SEC honors for the third consecutive season.

Earlier this month, she was one of 15 players named as a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy, becoming the first player in program history to be selected to the list.
