EUGENE, Ore. – Sophomore Erika Rucker captured eighth place in the women’s 400-meter dash finals on the third day of the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Championships in front of a crowd of 10,128 at historic Hayward Field.

In a field that featured five returning finalist from the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Championships, Rucker was unable to get the race that she wanted. Her time of 53.20 placed her eighth in the field, the best for a Gamecock since Brandi Cross placed seventh in 2010.

After passing on the first bar in the women’s pole vault competition, junior All-American Petra Olsen was unable to clear a bar after entering the competition at 13’3″ ½ (4.05m).

Tomorrow, the Gamecocks wrap up their trip to Eugene on the fourth and final day of NCAA Outdoors. Senior Breanna Radford and junior Jeannelle Scheper will take the field for the Gamecocks on Saturday. Scheper will make her second-career NCAA Outdoor Championships appearance at 3:45 p.m. ET in the high jump with Radford making her debut in the shot put at 4 p.m. ET.
