USC Indoor #2 Event Schedule Get Acrobat Reader

The South Carolina track and field program will host the second USC Indoor Meet of the season on Wed., Jan. 23. Field events are scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m. with running events slated to begin at 4:30p.m. The meet is being held at the USC Indoor Complex, the public is welcome (free admission).

Women’s Team Ranked by USTFCCCA
The women’s team has broken into the top 25 of the USTFCCCA NCAA Division I National Championship Rankings. The Gamecocks, one of seven SEC squads in the rankings, had the second biggest jump of the teams, moving seven spots from 27th to 20th. This marks the first time that the women have been ranked since the Feb. 13 and Feb. 20 polls in 2012. The team was ranked No. 24 in week four of the indoor season and No. 22 in week five. This week was the first week that regional rankings were release, both the men’s and women’s teams are ranked fourth in the Southeast Region.

The next round of computer rankings will be released January 29.

weekend time of 47.91 in the 400m is the fastest 400m time by a football player in the country. The next fastest time in Division I is a 50.26 by Michael Holmes of Texas Southern. Byrd is a wide receiver on the South Carolina football team and caught a 56-yard touchdown pass from Connor Shaw in the Outback Bowl on Jan. 1, 2013. The pass marked the fastest score in a bowl game by South Carolina and was the fourth longest passing play of the Gamecocks’ season. Byrd and the Gamecocks are coming off of their second consecutive 11-win season.
