PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. — Jaklin Alawi from the South Carolina women’s tennis team lost in the opening round of qualifying at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships on Tuesday at Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
Alawi, ranked No. 63, dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision to Kaitlin Ray of UCLA and then fell to No. 46 Wen Sun of Texas A&M 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the first round of consolation play.
The Gamecocks will be back in action at the USTA/ITA Carolina Regional Championships beginning Oct. 18 in Winston-Salem, N.C.
