CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – South Carolina junior Jaklin Alawi wrapped up her 2-0 day on Saturday, advancing to Sunday’s quarterfinals in Chapel Hill, N.C., at the USTA/ITA Carolina Regional Championships.

In the round of 32, Alawi scored a 6-2, 6-4 victory against Monica Gorney from Duke.

In the round of 16, she defeated North Carolina’s Caroline Price, 6-2, 2-6, 7-5.

In the round of 32, two other Gamecocks competed on Saturday. Josefin Andersson lost her match-up with Lauren McHale from North Carolina, 6-0, 6-4. Katerina Popova also fell in singles action, dropping a 6-2, 6-3 decision to Monica Turewicz from Duke.
