In the return to Gamecock Softball Squawk Box, some members of the team talk about their thoughts after watching the 2011 NCAA Division I Softball Tournament that wrapped up a mere 10 days ago. Many looked forward to next year. Let’s hear what they have to say.
Julie Sarratt: I thought the teams in the NCAA Tournament were very competitive, and I can’t wait to be a part of it next season!
Lauren Lackey: Watching the NCAA Tournament made me really angry. Seeing teams still out on the field that I know we are better than was really hard to watch. It kind of lit a fire under my rear and made me want to work as hard as I ever have this summer. I’m not going out my senior year without a(n) (NCAA) appearance. Next year will be the year everyone sees what the Gamecocks are all about!
Molly Brossart: It’s time for a SEC team to win it! Next year will be the year.
Kaitlin Westfall: It’s hard to watch without really wanting to be there!! The SEC is so close, and we will get a national championship next year!! Florida just left it open for South Carolina to be the first SEC team!! Watching is gave me great motivation so this time next year I don’t have to watch it on TV.
Chelsea Hawkins: If I could explain how bad I wanted to be there, I would, but I dont think I can. I would’ve done anything to be there. It was a good tournament to watch. There were a lot of upsets, and it was a good example of how anyone can beat anyone on any day. Sometimes things go your way, and sometime they don’t. Even though I’d much rather have been playing, it’s good to watch and learn also.
