Lille, France – Gamecock freshman Jeannelle Scheper placed 12th in her flight at the IAAF World Youth Championships, missing qualifying for the high jump finals in her first appearance at the event.

Representing her home country of St. Lucia, Scheper cleared the opening two heights of 1.62m (5-3 3/4) and 1.67m (5-5 3/4). At 1.72m (5-7 3/4), Scheper had three close misses, getting her hips over the bar but not her heels. The bar was the final needed to clear to make the finals.

Scheper has one more summer compition to represent her country. She will compete July 22-24 at the Pan Am Junior Championships in Miramar, Florida.
