COLUMBIA, S.C. – Anya Morgina from the South Carolina women’s tennis team has been named AgSouth Athlete of the Week.

Morgina notched a win over Chelsey Gullickson, the defending NCAA singles champion, in the Gamecocks’ 4-3 loss to No. 6 Georgia on Sunday. Morgina trailed 5-2 in the third set before coming back to win in a tiebreaker. Morgina also teamed with Dominika Kanakova to defeat Gullickson and Kate Fuller, the No. 9-ranked doubles duo, at the top position.

Morgina owns a 13-7 record at No. 1 singles this season and is currently ranked No. 39 in the country. She leads the team in singles victories with a 23-10 record and also has the top doubles mark at 21-11.
