GAINESVILLE, Fla. – South Carolina’s relays ran in the final day of competition at the Pepsi Florida Relays and posted top five finishes in the men’s 4x100m and 4x200m as well as the women’s 4x100m and 4x800m.

The Gamecock men improved their times in the two NCAA relay events by placing fifth in the 4x100m relay and seventh in the 4x400m relay. Carolina ran 40.09 in the 4×1 before taking 3:07.52 in the 4×4, a time that ranks in the national top 11. The Gamecocks also took third in the 4x200m relay at 1:22.83.

In the field events, Matt Shuler, Lincoln Carr and David Wilkins each placed eighth overall in their respective events. Shuler cleared 16’7 ½ (5.07m) in the pole vault while Carr jumped 49’10 ½ (15.20m) in the triple jump. Wilkins, the SEC indoor silver medalist, cleared 6’10 ¾ (2.10m) in the high jump.

On the women’s side, the Gamecock sprinters placed fourth overall in the 4x100m relay at 44.72. Carolina then ran 3:41.62 in the 4x400m relay. Both times were season bests for the South Carolina squads.

In the field events, Stacee Roberts took third in the shot put at 48’1 ¾ (14.67m), and Breanna Radford followed in fourth at 47’9 ¼ (14.56m). Both marks were outdoor personal bests. Katie Vuckovich placed 20th overall at 45’6 ½. Freshman Emily Laurence competed in the javelin throw with a toss of 121-01 (36.90m) to take 20th overall.

The Gamecocks travel to Georgia next weekend for the Spec Towns Invitational in Athens, site of the upcoming SEC Outdoor Championships.
