COLUMBIA, S.C. – A contingent of six current and former Gamecocks are slated to compete for their respective countries at the 2011 IAAF World Outdoor Track & Field Championships that begin Saturday and run until September 4. In addition, South Carolina Assistant Head Coach Delethea Quarles has been selected to serve as an assistant coach for Team USA.
The meet will take place at Daegu Stadium with UniversalSports.com providing a webcast each day in addition to the television schedule that will have portions broadcast by both NBC and Universal Sports.
Senior hurdler Kierre Beckles will compete in the women’s 100-meter hurdles for Barbados as the lone current Gamecock to make it to the championship. Former Gamecocks scheduled to compete include Miki Barber, Lashinda Demus, Natasha Hastings, Jason Richardson and Shalonda Solomon.
