The South Carolina women’s tennis team continued their dominance in the Southern Intercollegiate Tournament. The Gamecocks will have all 5 players in singles play that will finish no lower than fourth.

In the A1 and A2 Singles tournament it will be Gamecock versus Gamecock battling for the right to win their draw. In A1, it will be Senior Jodi Kenoyer facing Freshman Danielle Wiggins. Kenoyer defeated Ana Stiglic of Clemson 5-7, 6-4, 6-3, while Wiggins defeated Ioana Paun of Clemson 6-4, 1-6, 6-1 to advance to the finals.

In the A2 bracket it will be Sophomore Magda Wojdylo versus teammate Ayako Suzuki. Wojdylo defeated Catherine Koontz of West Virginia 6-1, 6-4 and Renata Caceres of Winthrop 6-3, 6-4. Suzuki defeated Marie Matrka of Coastal Carolina 6-3, 6-3 and then defeated teammate Catherine Brown 6-1, 6-2. Brown will face Caceres tomorrow for third place in the A2 draw.

Audrey George will compete for third place in the B1 singles. George defeated Winthrop’s Natasha Lucki 7-5, 6-1 and then dropped the match against Coastal Carolina’s Stephanie Koot 6-1, 6-0. George will face Richele Lesaldo of Clemson tomorrow for third place.

The Gamecocks have won 13 of their 14 single matches in the tournament when facing opposition from different teams. The Gamecocks will also have three doubles teams in competition tomorrow. The tournament will begin at 9:30 tomorrow morning with singles action while doubles action will follow after all single play is finished.
